Xiantao, Hubei - December 4, 2025 - From December 2 to 4, LIONCARE welcomed a comprehensive human rights and forced-labor risk audit conducted by a UK leading PPE distributor as part of its global supply chain due diligence program. The three-day on-site evaluation focused on verifying labor rights protection, ethical recruitment, working and living conditions, and compliance with international human rights standards.

Audit Scope and Key Human Rights Indicators

 

The audit followed internationally recognized forced labor and human rights assessment frameworks. The review covered all major risk indicators, including:

 

1. Abuse of Vulnerability

Assessing whether any employees-especially migrant, economically vulnerable, or low-literacy workers-were exploited or pressured due to language, cultural, or financial limitations.

6. Intimidation and Threats

Reviewing whether any employee has been subjected to threats of dismissal, fines, deportation, or harm to family members.

 

7. Retention of Identity Documents

Verifying that all workers retain their passports, ID cards, and work permits; confirming LIONCARE does not hold any personal identity documents.

 

8. Withholding of Wages

Ensuring timely and full payment of wages with no deductions used as coercion, and reviewing payroll records for any risk of wage manipulation.

 

9. Debt Bondage

Checking for recruitment fees, agency fees, or forced deductions that could create debt dependency, especially among migrant workers.

 

10. Abusive Working and Living Conditions / Excessive Overtime

Assessing workplace safety, hygiene, ventilation, dormitory conditions, and rest rights, ensuring no coerced overtime or hazardous working environments.

 

In addition to interviews and site inspections, the audit team reviewed contracts, payroll records, attendance logs, EHS documentation, grievance mechanisms, and employee communication channels.
